So many people tell me that they wish that they could have alpacas but they have circumstances that prevent them for doing so. I hear them say “I live in a city” or “I work long or weird hours” or “I travel”. I understand. I have been blessed. I live in the country with sufficient space thanks to God and my family. I have the desire to commit myself to caring for animals, alpacas especially! We love our alpacas and care for them about 362 days of the year, and have someone for the other days. It does require facilities and dedication. This often keeps people from owning alpacas. Do you still want to be part of the wonderful world of the alpaca or to give that super gift?
I’d like to suggest to you an alternative, Adopt an alpaca!
What does that entail?

Golden Sovereign’s Dynastey is a gal that I bought for fiber and to help a friend that needed to get out of the alpaca world. She is more friendly than the average alpaca and interested in what is going on around her. Her fiber is nice, I have had it spun and have hand-spun it myself. It is quite white, in comparison with others I’ve had. She is a very easy keeper, so good for the feed bills. Dy does not have any registered offspring, but I’m not sure that she hasn’t had any. Val’s Ava is a beautiful young female alpaca, in her prime ready to be bred. She has wonderful fleeces, soft, well crimped, tightly bundled. Ava has a pedigree that is dotted with some names to be remembered, including 4Perurvian Legacy and 5 Snowmass animals. So yes she ought to be in some ones breeding program. At this time I’m not breeding anymore and it would be a shame to let this alpaca spend her years on a farm that isn’t breeding.

Whim’s Adventure, Addy we call him, is a very interesting story. He is a strapping lad, taller than either parent. His fiber is shading from medium-dark brown to beige! This makes him striking to look at and also gives a person lots of choices on what color to have his yarn. I have been processing the brown and saving the mixed. This year I making both brown yarn and a heathered yarn of the mix. I’m excited to see what the color intensity will be, whatever it is I’m sure it will be pretty. His story is that he is a product of a double fence failure so I had a choice of three studs that may have fathered him. I was there for his birth and when a brown muzzle appeared I said “well Whim must be your daddy”, and hence the name. When I sent in the registration application I put Whim down as my first guess and Zion for my second. When the registration certificate arrived I found that Addy was NOT named for his father, whoops! Oh well, it is a fun story to tell. The rest of the story is that he should have been black as both his parents are. Genetics have a way of putting mud on one’s face! Frazier's Kassidy just makes me smile, she always has and I can't even tell you why! She sees just about everything and frequently leads the herd out to pasture and back too. Here is something to make you say "hmmm", she is Addy's mom and she and Zion should have made a black baby and didn't. Oh well! She is jet black.
